Eva Vegh Varhalmi

October 5, 1930 — July 7, 2015

WORCESTER – Eva Vegh Varhalmi died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, in St. Francis Nursing Home. Eva would have turned 85 years old this October.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Varhalmi; her beloved sister, Elisabeth V. Lorincz, with whom she lived; and her brother-in-law, Sandor Lorincz. She leaves behind nephews, Lad and Alex Lorincz and his wife, Christine and their son, Alex G. Lorincz of Worcester; her grand-niece, Christina McCarthy and her children, Kyle, Kaitlyn and Karissa of Oxford; and relatives in Hungary. Eva was born in Szekesfehervar, Hungary and immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina after World War II where she worked as an assistant to the president of steel company Acero-Metal. She moved to the United States in 1963, living first in New York City and later moving to Worcester where she worked for many years at Norton Company. Eva’s work enabled her entire family to follow her to the United States. Eva also lived in Fort Lee, NJ, and worked at Mercedes-Benz NA, in Montvale, NJ. She later returned to Holden and worked in Worcester at Harrington & Richardson and Morgan Construction/Siemens as an executive secretary, fluent in four languages. Eva was a loving, generous and selfless person and was the mainstay of her family. She will be greatly missed by all.

Her family would like to thank her dedicated caretakers at St. Francis Nursing Home and Jewish Health Care Hospice.
