PRINCETON – Eva A. (Desaulnier) Bennett, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 9, 2017. Born in Fitchburg on December 29, 1927, Eva was the daughter of Frank and Legania (Fox) Desaulnier and lived most of her life in Princeton.
The spotlight was always drawn to Eva, illuminating her regal elegance and casual ease with herself. She took tremendous pride in her home, which offered museum quality placement of her treasures and furnishings. Eva also enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard and traveling overseas. Known as a hard worker, in her early years she was a hostess for The Sterling Inn and Green Meadow Lodge. Eva owned and operated Eve’s Toggery Shop in West Acton and was the Assistant Manager at Loehmann’s in Natick. In her later years, she enjoyed her realty position with Bennett and Smith Realty, where she worked closely with her companion, Warren Smith.
Eva is survived by and will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Jeanne Calcia of Princeton; her two brothers, Francis Desaulnier of Shrewsbury and William Desaulnier of Lunenburg; a sister, Lillian Williams; five grandchildren, Marc Calcia of Sorrento, ME, Laura Williams, Kimberley Reding and Robyn Mullins all of Princeton, James Calcia of Gardner; twenty-eight great grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband, Richard Varney in 1948, her subsequent husband and the love of her life, Francis R. Bennett in 1969; and her two sisters, GloriaVaillancourt and Pauline Dyer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eva’s family from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rt. 12), Sterling followed by a Service of Personal Reflections at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Princeton at a later date.
