Ethel J. (Stonehouse) Firth

February 28, 1918 — January 7, 2012

LANCASTER – Ethel J. (Stonehouse) Firth, 93, formerly of Acton, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Sterling Village after an illness.

Her husband of 52 years, Richard A. Firth, passed away in 1992. She leaves a daughter, Marcia L. Firth of Lancaster and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Howard and Frank Stonehouse and a sister, Roberta Stonehouse, predeceased her.
Ethel was born in Quincy, the daughter of Robert and Annie (Smith) Stonehouse and had lived in Acton and Boylston before moving to Lancaster six years ago. She graduated from Groton High School in 1936 and attended Fitchburg State College for two years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Boylston.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th, in the Miles-Sterling and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A private committal service will be held at a later date at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Acton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
