Worcester - Ethel E. (Ahlstrom) Lind, 96, passed on to the larger life on September 22, 2023.
Ethel was born and raised in Worcester. She met her husband Verner W. Lind in Worcester MA after he returned from his service in the Navy. They were married in 1950 and soon moved out to Rochester, MN. They moved to various locations including Worcester, White River Jct. VT, West Boylston, MA and Billerica MA. She returned to the Worcester area after his death.
Ethel graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. She worked as a secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church until her marriage to Vern. She worked at the Leahy Clinic in Rochester MN, until the birth of her first child. She later worked in W. Boylston High cafeteria and later as a substitute teacher at Billerica High School. She and Vern loved to dance and belonged to the Alpine Square Dance group and Round Dance groups and graced every dance floor they came across. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Verner in 2005; her sister, Evelyn Lind in 1998 and her brother, Russell Ahlstrom in 2002. She leaves her four children including her son, Ronald Lind and his wife, Ann Marie of Boynton Beach, FL, her daughter, Nancy White and husband, Ken of Holden, MA, her son, David Lind and his wife, Donna of S. Berwick, ME, and her son, Alan Lind and his wife, Kristen of Yarmouth Port, MA. She leaves 5 grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Tatnuck Park, Knollwood Nursing Home and Brookhaven Hospice for their dedicated care of mom in her final years.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. A scattering ceremony will be held at a later date in the Memorial Garden at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Chelmsford.
