HUBBARDSTON – Ethel I. (Johnson) Friberg, 93, formerly of Worcester Rd., died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Overlook Masonic Health Center, Charlton after an illness.
Her husband of 61 years, Wallace H. Friberg, died in 1997. She is survived by her son, John W. Friberg and his wife Kristina of Otisfield, ME; two daughters, Joanne C. Westlund and her husband Bruce of Hubbardston and Jane E. Ross and her husband R. Thomas of Lincoln University, PA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. A grandson, Andrew C. Westlund and a great-granddaughter, Hanna J. Paribello, and two brothers, Elmer and J. Gilbert Johnson predeceased her.
Ethel was born in Millbury the daughter of John and Hanna (Abrahamson) Johnson and lived many years in Millbury before moving to Hubbardston 30 years ago. Ethel was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Worcester and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Millbury. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 10th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Ethel will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11th in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Rural Glen Cemetery, Hubbardston.
