FITZWILLIAM, NH / CLINTON, MA – Esther I. (Farnsworth) Wright, 80, formerly of Clinton and Springfield, VT, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Keene, New Hampshire. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert W. Wright passed away in 2005. Born and raised in West Rutland, Vermont, Esther was the daughter of the late Addison E. and Gladys (Bateman) Farnsworth and lived many years in Clinton and Winchendon before moving to live with her daughter, Robin in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire after her husband’s passing.
She will be lovingly missed and survived by her son, David D. Wright; four daughters, Terry J. Osborne of Arizona, Darlene E. Bashaw of Clinton, Robin L. Crowe with whom she lived and Betty A. Ash of Belmont, Maine; 28+ grandchildren;36+ great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Besides her husband Bob, Esther is predeceased a son, Walter W. Wright and two sisters, Florence and Luella Rugg.
Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. As a stay at home mom raising five children, she considered her role a full time responsibility. Esther made her children’s clothing without ever using a formal pattern. She enjoyed painting on ceramic, crocheting and knitting. She will be remembered for her nurturing and loving nature.
A funeral service honoring Esther’s life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 2, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Esther will be laid to rest next to her husband Bob at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
