RUTLAND - Erwin H. Moore, 86, of 333 Main Street, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of six years, Esther (Whitaker) Hunter Moore. His first wife, Signe I. (Oja) Moore died in 1992. He leaves a step-son, Charles T. Hunter of Kernsville, California; two step-daughters, Cynthia E. Hale of Boothbay Harbor, Maine and Deborah J. Hunt of Rutland; two brothers, Eugene Moore of Tewksbury and James Paquin of Gardner; two sisters, Doris Parr of Sorrento, Maine and Eunice Woodbury of Baldwinville; 16 step-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter Joyce Sicari and a step-son, Robert W. Hunter.
Mr. Moore was born in Templeton the son of George E. and Grace (Greenleaf) Moore. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater where he received the Purple Heart. He retired from the Stolen Car Department of the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Worcester after 20 years of service. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Rutland, the Lions Club of Rutland and the Hope Lodge of Masons in Gardner. He was an avid sports enthusiast and played baseball, football, hockey and golf.
The funeral service for Mr. Moore will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 31, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, in the funeral home.
