HOLDEN - Ernest G. Rocha, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2013, under the loving care of his family and the staff at Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. Born in New York City, Ernest was the son of Ernest G. and Muriel G. (Stuart) Rocha and lived in Holden for 45 years.
Ernest was a graduate of St. John’s University in New York and worked for Getty Oil Co. for 35 years. He honorably served with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
As a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, he served as a Lector and choir member. Ernest enjoyed writing, composing music, golfing, fishing and vacationing on Cape Cod. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Scanlon) Rocha; two sons, James Rocha and his wife Elizabeth of East Walpole and Ernest E. Rocha of Holden; two daughters, Susan Husband and her husband Wayne of Bedford, NH and Elizabeth Cranford and her husband J. Mark of Hampton, NH; five grandchildren, Zachary Husband, Benjamin and Samuel Cranford, and Tyler and Caitlin Rocha.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ernest’s family from 9 to 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 8, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson, for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1326 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, P.O.
