WORCESTER – Ernest A. Wine, 57, of 19 Indian Hill Road, died Friday, May 7, 2004, in UMass Memorial Health Care, Worcester, after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Joyce E. (Cook) Wine; a son, Christopher M. Wine of Worcester; two daughters, Jessica M. Wine and Allison J. Wine, both of Worcester; a sister, Patricia Staron of Arlington, TX; a grandson, Jason T. Wine of Worcester; two nieces and a nephew. He was born in Worcester, the son of Ernest G. and Gertrude M. (O’Coin) Wine, raised in North Brookfield, lived in Spencer and 31 years in Worcester.
Ernie was the sales manager for M.D. Machine Company in Acton. Previously, he worked for W.S. Anderson, Inc. in Oxford. He graduated from North Brookfield High School and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. He was a hockey enthusiast and was past president of Worcester Ice Cats Booster Club. He enjoyed digital photography and was the official Game Night Photographer for the Worcester Ice Cats. He was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and previously served in the Massachusetts National Guard.
The funeral for Ernie will be held Monday, May 10, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 9, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
