LANCASTER/STERLING – Erica Nicole D’Errico, 14, of Sterling Road, Lancaster, formerly of Sterling, a Wachusett Regional High School freshman, died unexpectedly at home in the company of her loving family, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Erica was born on January 23, 1997 in Leominster and lived in Sterling before moving to Lancaster five years ago.
Erica was a tremendously creative and active young lady whose biggest passion in life was art. She received the Outstanding Art Achievement Award at her eighth grade graduation from Chocksett Middle School, Sterling. As a freshman at Wachusett Regional High School, she was a member of the Art Club, Anime Club, and Chess Club and was an active Peer Tudor. Her most recent goal was to achieve the honors level in art. Erica enjoyed volunteering with her parents during fundraising efforts at the Leominster Eagle’s Club where both of her parents are officers. “Dorito” as Erica’s friends had nicknamed her, was also known for wearing her unique and unusual hats, and for her love and fascination of animals, particularly wolves.
Erica is survived and will be greatly missed by her mother, Marianne Burnham of Lancaster and her step-father, Keith A. Durling of Sterling; her brother, John Burnham, AO3 U.S. Navy, Oceana, Virginia; her grandmother, Patricia D'Errico of Maynard; her aunt and uncle, John and Terry D’Errico and their son Benjamin of Derry, New Hampshire and her countless friends throughout the Wachusett School District.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road(Rt. 12), Sterling.
