HOLDEN – Mary E. (Murphy) Dunker, 77, of Jefferson, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester after a brief illness.
Her husband of 50 years, Charles F. Dunker, died in 2004. She leaves two brothers, Daniel H. Murphy of Clinton and David I. Murphy of Cromwell, CT; two sisters, Gertrude C. Gregory of North Attleboro and Ann M. Maguire of Southboro; many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and nieces. She was born in Clinton, the daughter of Henry and Mary (McLaughlin) Murphy, and has lived in Jefferson for over 50 years.
Mary was a 1948 graduate of Clinton High School and a graduate of the X-ray Technician School at Leahy Clinic in Boston. She was an X-ray technician for Fallon Clinic in Worcester for 15 years. Previously she worked many years at Holden District Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, enjoyed painting, gardening and vacationing on Cape Cod.
Mary had a wonderful effect on everyone she encountered in her life. Her family, her friends and even the nurses and doctors who cared for her were all influenced by her kindness, dignity, faith and grace. She will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Mary will be held on Friday, March 28th, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1326 Main Street (Rte. 122A)Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund at St. Mary's Church, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
