HOLDEN – Ernest E. Mongeon, Jr., 77, of Brewer Way, died peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Christopher House, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves two daughters, Leslye A. Warner and her husband William of Holden and Sally A. Nowicki and her husband Michael of Barre; a sister, Deborah O'Connor of Worcester; four grandchildren, Karl Warner of Missouri, Ashlye Warner of Worcester, Mitchell and Shannon Nowicki both of Barre. His daughter, Sherrill A. Jacobs died in 2005. A brother, Gilbert Mongeon, and a sister, Leona Anderson, predeceased him.
Ernest was born in Worcester, son of Ernest E. and Sadie S. (Kreplick) Mongeon, Sr., and has lived in Holden for over 50 years. He was a machinist at Morgan Construction Co. in Worcester for 55 years, retiring in 2004, but continued working at Morgan until June, 2008. He also worked at Chaffin's Garage. He was a member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland and the Nimrod Club in Holden.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 11th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons will conduct a Masonic Ritual Service at 6:30 p.m. during calling hours. The funeral service for Ernest will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 12th, in the funeral home with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton.
