WEST BOYLSTON – Kathleen E. (Mellen) Parks, 72, of Yorktown Rd., died on Friday, January 9, 2009 in UMass Healthcare, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home.
Her husband, Earl W. Parks died in 1997. She leaves two daughters, Debra E. Parks and Peggy S. Supernor both of West Boylston; a grandson, Tyler William Supernor of West Boylston; three brothers, Roy White of Hawaii, Lawrence Mellen of North Carolina and James Mellen of Rhode Island; two sisters, Marilyn Davis of New York and Susan Palmer of Vermont; many nephews and nieces. She was born in Holden, the daughter of Elmer and Ellen (Ward) Mellen, and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to West Boylston several years ago.
Mrs. Parks graduated from Commerce High School and was an active member of Greendale People's Church, both in Worcester. She enjoyed knitting, rug hooking and cooking. She loved to travel to New York City and was in the audience of many Martha Stewart shows.
A memorial service for Mrs. Parks will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16th in the Chapel at Greendale People's Church, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester, MA 01606. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
