Ember T. (Olafson) Bunker

May 11, 1910 — February 5, 2005

WORCESTER – Ember T. (Olafson) Bunker, 94, a long time resident of Worcester died Saturday, February 5, 2005 in Holden Nursing Home.

Her husband of 47 years, Charles H. Bunker, died in 1990. She leaves two sons, David C. Bunker Sr. of Rutland and Phillip Lancey of Miami, Florida; a daughter, Faye J. Giacobba of Wells, Maine, and a stepdaughter, Derith Segur of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilda Hastings of Athol. A sister, Bertha Walsh, predeceased her. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Olaf and Anna (Reinertson) Olafson, and grew up in North Dana before moving to Worcester.

Mrs. Bunker worked as a secretary for the Worcester Public School system. She was a member of the Greendale Peoples Church and the Retired Secretaries of Worcester. She had a strong love of the ocean and enjoyed walking the beaches of Maine. She will be remembered for her kindness, warm smile and sense of humor. She enjoyed life and the simple pleasures with her family and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bunker will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 7, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Boys Club, Alumni Association, 2 Ionic Avenue, Worcester, MA 01608.
