S Myra E. (Mallett) Snyder

March 31, 1916 — January 28, 2008

PAXTON – Myra E. (Mallett) Snyder, 91, of 176 Suomi St., died Monday, January 28, 2008 in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 40 years, Gordon E. Snyder, Sr., died in 1980. She leaves her son, Gordon E. Snyder, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Paxton; two daughters, Carol Ann Hoffman and her husband Allen of Sterling and Marilyn R. Wimmergren and her husband Lyle of Paxton; two brothers, Lloyd Mallett of Lee, Maine and Ivan Mallett of Lincoln, Maine; a sister, Ruth Taylor of Lincoln, Maine; five grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Cappucci, Gina Alysha and Jason Snyder, and Kimberly and Rebecca Hoffman; and a great-grandson, Douglas McDonough. Her son, Arthur E. Snyder, and a brother, Howard Mallett, predeceased her. She was born in Lee, Maine, daughter of Hollis and Helena (Pickering) Mallett, and lived many years in Worcester. Upon retirement, she returned to Lincoln, Maine before moving to Paxton five years ago. She attended a one-room school house in Lee, Maine, graduated Lee Academy and Becker College and attended Colby College.

Mrs. Snyder and her husband owned and operated G.E. Snyder Wholesale Florist in Worcester for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton and a 50-year member of the Hadwen Park Congregational Church in Worcester. She was a skilled quilter and miniature dollhouse designer.

Relatives and friends of Mrs. Snyder are invited to attend her memorial service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 31st, in the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street. Burial will be private in All Faith’s Cemetery, Worcester. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Hollis and Helena Mallett Scholarship Fund, Lee Academy, 6 Winn Road, Lee, ME 04455.
