PAXTON – Elmer E. Hair, Jr., 90, of Colony Lane, died peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Tatnuck Park at Worcester.
His wife of 57 years, Isabel C. (Hooker) Hair, died in 2001. He leaves his son, Stephen E. Hair and his wife Kathleen of Auburn; a daughter, Dianne I. Durso of Bridgewater; two sisters, Doris Hair of Worcester and Evelyn Pulling of Auburn; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hair was born in Hartford, Connecticut, son of Elmer E. and Mary A. (Kiley) Hair Sr. He was a graduate of South High School and UMass Stockbridge School of Agriculture where he excelled in football and basketball. He was co-owner and operator of Sunrise Dairy in Holden. he continued working until he was 79 years old. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Paxton, the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons and The Sons of Paxton. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who exemplified strong family values and work ethic. He was also an avid horseman.
The funeral service for Mr. Hair will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, in the First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Paxton. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Maple Street, Sturbridge. There are no calling hours. The family will be receiving guests at the Church from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Please omit flowers.
