WORCESTER – Dr. Elliot W. Salloway, age 82, of Aventura, FL, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Regina R. (Dobro) Salloway; three sons, Brian Salloway, David Salloway and his wife, Alexis Silver and Steven Salloway and his wife, Erin all of Worcester; a brother, Richard Salloway and his wife, Josephine of Braintree; a granddaughter, Emily, wife of Edward Ricco of Revere.
He was born in Lynn, a son of Murray and Mary (Berman) Salloway and had lived in Worcester for over 50 years before moving three years ago to become a permanent resident of Aventura, FL.
He graduated from Tufts University and Tufts University Dental School. He received his Periodontal Degree from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and from Boston University School of Dentistry. He had a practice in Worcester from 1964 to his retirement. He was a visiting lecturer at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine.
He was a Captain in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a man of many interests including photography, painting, tennis and a love of sailing. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Boston Global Forum, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Art. He was on the Board of UNESCO-UCLA and an active member of iACT, an organization teaching empathy to children around the globe.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 PM ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL ON JAMESBURY DR. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
Immediately following the interment service, Memorial Observance will be held through 5:30 PM at the Clubhouse of Salisbury West, 770 Salisbury St., Worcester and will continue 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 4, at the family’s residence. A Minyan Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday at the residence.
