Ellen 'Formerly Wamback' M. (Kelly) Wamback Maher

June 7, 1942 — July 11, 2013

Ellen Marie (Kelly) Maher, formerly Wamback, of Worcester, passed away recently at her home. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother who was a great source of comfort and joy to all her family. She was taken from us far too soon.



Ellen was born on June 7, 1942 in Clinton, MA to the late Denis F. and Kathryn T. Kelly. She attended St. Peter's High School graduating in 1960. Ellen earned a degree in Education from Worcester State Teacher's College (1964) now Worcester State University. She was a teacher in the Worcester public schools and was associated with the Worcester Postal Credit Union. Recently, Ellen finished another successful year of substitute teaching in the Leicester public schools. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish of Worcester and St. Columba's Parish of Paxton where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Ellen belonged to the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Froshian Club, was a volunteer with the Worcester County Public School's after school program and the Hanover Theater in Worcester. She was an avid bowler and loved to travel and had many friends at the Greendale YMCA. Ellen loved to be involved in all of her family's activities and will be dearly missed.



Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Denis and Kathryn Kelly as well as her first husband, Gerald F. Wamback.



Ellen is survived by her daughter MaryBeth (Wamback) Saro and her husband James Saro; sons, David Wamback, Daniel Kelly and his wife Marta Kelly, and Mark Wamback and his wife Colleen Wamback; brother, Denis Kelly and sister, Catherine O'Connell; four grandchildren, Breana, Jackson, Sophia and Natalie as well as many loving nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Miles Funeral Home 1158 Main Street, Holden. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 17 with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton.
