Elizabeth M. (Caiger) Masel

March 21, 1920 — June 9, 2009

HOLDEN – Elizabeth M. (Caiger) Masel, 89, of Main Street, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Holden Nursing Home surrounded by her family, after an illness.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John S. Masel; a son, David John Masel and his wife Elly of Miami, FL; two daughters, Barbara Ann Lee and her husband Patrick of Longmeadow, MA and Patricia Jean Curtis and her husband John of Hebron, ME; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin O'Meara, Katherine Curtis, Carolyn Curtis, Megan Lee, and Andrew Lee; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Mae Hart predeceased her. Elizabeth was born in Boston and lived in Melrose for 36 years before moving to Holden in 1989.

Elizabeth graduated from Everett High School and worked as an underwriter for Pine Insurance Agency in Melrose before retiring in 1978.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 12th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, June 13th, from the funeral home with a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holden Council of Aging, 1130 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
