Elizabeth Jean (Schnettler) Queeney

RUTLAND – Elizabeth Jean (Schnettler) Queeney, 82, of 106 Main Street, died Sunday, September 11, 2005, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband of 50 years, Roger E. Queeney, died in 1996. She leaves two sons, Anthony J. Queeney of Rutland and Ronald W. Lambert of Worcester; a daughter, Linda L’Herault of Attleboro; a sister, Mary A. Kolofsky of Rutland; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, Chick Lambert of Lutz, Florida, predeceased her. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, daughter of Anthony J. and Lucy Ellen (Murphy) Schnettler, and lived most of her life in Rutland. She attended St. Benedictine College, the Benedictine Oblare of Guadalupo Convent and graduated St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Queeney was a World War II Army Veteran and served in the Nurse Corps. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for Rutland Heights Hospital and later Worcester State Hospital, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the church’s Mission Society. She was a member of the American Legion Post 310 in Rutland.

The funeral Mass for Mrs. Queeney will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Goddard Road, Rindge, New Hampshire. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, P.O. Box 939, Rutland, MA 01543.
