Elizabeth A. (Moynihan) Flanagan

HOLDEN - Elizabeth A. (Moynihan) Flanagan, 71, of 969 Main Street, died peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 2004, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her mother, Myrtle R. Moynihan of Shrewsbury; a brother, John D., Brother Regis Moynihan C.F.X. of Shrewsbury; and a sister, Janet M. Doyle of Powhatan, Virginia; her two sons, Stephen F. and his wife Lisa M. Flanagan of Grafton, Daniel P. and his wife Gail A. Flanagan of Holden; two daughters, Diane E. Carr of Shrewsbury, Maureen A. and her husband Robert B. Sweet of Shrewsbury; her former husband Donald F. Flanagan of Shrewsbury; ten grandchildren: Daniel, David, Stephen, Colleen, Michael, Laura, Jessica, Donald, Jennifer and Katie; her aunt, Joy Cofsky of Millbury; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Betty was born in Millbury, the daughter of Daniel E. and Myrtle R. (Cofsky) Moynihan. She was raised in Millbury before moving to Grafton Hill in Worcester, graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1951, and lived in Holden the past 45 years.

Betty was a realtor for 21 years, working for Larry O’Connell Real Estate before opening her own office, Betty Flanagan Real Estate in Holden. She worked for Robert B. Love Realty in Paxton, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, for many years was a volunteer for the church and community. Betty was an avid golfer, Red Sox fan, loved to cook and bake, create arts and crafts, and knit. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her children, grandchildren, and friends on Cape Cod and the White Mountains.

The funeral for Mrs. Flanagan will be held on Saturday, November 6, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 5, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the UMMC Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology Clinic, University Campus, 55 Lake Ave North, Worcester, MA 01655.
