HOLDEN – Elinor L. (Vancelette) Bottcher, 95, died Friday, April 23, 2004, in Holden Nursing Home, after an illness.
Her husband of 60 years, Gustaf O. Bottcher, died in 1991. She leaves a son, David A. Bottcher and his wife Linda A. of Holden; two grandchildren, Arlyn M. Bottcher of Westport and Andrew D. Bottcher of Holden; nephews and nieces including Deborah J. Daman of Bolton, Merilee L. Rauh and Frances L. Johansen, both of Holden. A sister, Olive I. Eld, died in February. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Alfred and Laura (Geroux) Vancelette, and lived most of her life in Holden. She graduated North High School, Worcester, in 1927.
Mrs. Bottcher was a member of Holden Chapel and past president, member and officer of Womens Aglow. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She was a member of Worcester Country Club for over 50 years. She was instrumental in opening the first gift shop at Hahnemann Hospital.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bottcher will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, in the Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street (Rte. 31), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
