Elias Bourisk

June 7, 1911 — March 21, 2005

LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA – Elias Bourisk, 94, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, died on Monday, March 21, 2005 in London, Ontario.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Julie (Aziz) Bourisk; a sister, Katherine Bourisk of Worcester; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Jenny Bourisk and Annie Peters, and his brothers, George Bourisk Sr., John, Nelson, Elias, and Spirydon Bourisk. He was born in Ayeeta El-Fookyah, Lebanon, son of the late Mike and Mary (Emary) Bourisk, and emigrated to the U.S. in 1937 and later lived 61 years in Lewiston, Maine before moving to London, Ontario in 1998.

Mr. Bourisk co-owned and operated B&M Appliance Store, owned The Terminal Barber Shop and operated a chicken business that supplied chickens to a nearby poultry company all located in Lewiston, Maine. He also owned and operated, with his wife, George Ross’s Ice Cream Parlor. Mr. Bourisk retired in 1996 following over 60 years of work in Lewiston, the majority of which was in the barbering profession.

The funeral service for Mr. Bourisk will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Endowment Fund at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester, MA 01604. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
