WEST LEBANON, NH - Eleanor B. Clarkson, 94, formerly of Worcester and Drakes Island, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2005. Her husband of 61 years, Frank B. Clarkson, died in 1995. She leaves two sons, Wayne Clarkson and his wife Elizabeth of Wells, Maine and Roger Clarkson and his wife Karen of Hanover, N.H., 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lorna May, predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Arthur and Grace (Underwood) Berger. She was educated in the Worcester school system and attended Becker College. Eleanor was an accomplished concert pianist and also attended Georgetown Visitation Convent in Washington, D.C. on a scholarship. Eleanor was a devoted wife and mother. For over 40 years, she managed her husband’s real estate development business in Worcester. Since 1934 Eleanor and her family would spend the summer at Drake’s Island in Wells, Maine. She enjoyed sitting on her deck looking out over the Webhannet River and Wells Harbor.
A private graveside service was held on August 2, in Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton, MA, 251 Richards Avenue (Rte.56), Paxton where she was laid to rest next to her husband and daughter. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden directed arrangements.
