Edward E. Lapoint

RUTLAND – Edward E. Lapoint, 75, of 1 Rufas Putnam Place, died at home on Thursday, August 9, 2007, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Bette P. (Myra) Lapoint; a son, David P. Lapoint and his wife Kristen of Holden; three daughters, Diane A. Bertholdt and her husband Robert of Rutland, Donna M. Farrell and her husband Michael of Hubbardston and Christine L. Mascitelli and her husband Thomas of Holden; two brothers, Carl F. Lapoint of Princeton and Walter R. Lapoint of Rutland; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Meredith, New Hampshire, son of Earl F. and Edith E. (Taft) Lapoint, and has lived in Rutland for the last 41 years. He was a graduate of Holden High School.

Mr. Lapoint was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War serving in the 464th Installation Squadron at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He worked a machinist for Martin Tool & Manufacturing Corporation in Hubbardston for many years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Rutland.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 13th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17th, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
