HOLDEN – Elaine McGourty Curtis, age 80, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Worcester, she was daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Satkauskas) Perrott.
Elaine was raised in Worcester where she graduated from Commerce High School, class of 1962.
In addition to her many life-long friends, Elaine made connections everywhere she went. She had the gift of being able to listen, offer sound, common-sense advice and make you feel important and cared for. She will be remembered by many for her sense of humor and how she made them laugh. She was one of the first people to get on a dance floor, to reach out to someone in need or raise her hand to organize a class reunion.
People truly enjoyed being around her.
An outgoing person by nature, Elaine used her exceptional people skills throughout her successful career in office supply sales. Her magnetism and likeability fostered many loyal and long-term clients during her career.
Elaine enjoyed traveling and beach vacations with her husband and especially treasured her annual family time at Mayflower Beach in Cape Cod. She enjoyed reading and watching annuals and perennials grow and bloom. She also loved music and enjoyed spontaneous sing-a-longs with her family.
Above all, she truly loved her family.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Neil F. Curtis; 2 daughters and their families, Laura McGourty, Michael Betts (husband), Raeya Betts-McGourty (granddaughter) of San Francisco, CA, Sheryl McGourty, Cedar McGourty-Batchelor (grandson) of Durango, CO.
