WEST BOYLSTON/CLINTON – Eileen M. Stevenson, 85, longtime Clinton resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Oakdale Nursing and Rehabilitation. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Walfred E. and Maude E. (Gould) Stevenson and her nephew, Terry K. Brown.
Eileen graduated from Clinton High School in 1950 and went on to receive her nursing degree in 1953 from the former Memorial School of Nursing in Worcester. She was a compassionate and caring Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital for 43 years. She was a Past President of the Memorial Alumni School of Nursing and former member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
Nursing was more than a career to Eileen, it was her life. Her nursing school classmates became her extended family, and like family, they cared for her and continued to visit her weekly during the past several years as her health declined. During her stay at Oakdale Nursing and Rehabilitation, Eileen encouraged many of those caring for her to further their careers by enrolling in nursing school.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her sister, Barbara J. Brown of Wells, ME; her nephews, Scott E. Brown and his wife, Suzanne of Cypress, TX and Bryan S. Brown and his wife, Michele of Bixby, OK; her great-nieces and nephews, Matthew, Gracie, Rachel, Sarah and Ethan; and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 am on Saturday, October 28 at Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
