WORCESTER -- Eileen (Gibbons) Fournier, 93, of Millbury and Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Born on March 8, 1924 in Worcester, Eileen was the daughter of Francis and Anna (Russell) Gibbons. She was the wife of the late Paul Fournier who died in 1976. Eileen worked over 40 years as a nurse at Saint Vincent Hospital and Memorial Hospital, both in Worcester. After her retirement, she dedicated her remaining years providing care and companionship to retired priests of the Worcester Diocese, often many years her junior. Over the course of her life, she donated thousands of hand-knit and quilted items to the newborn nursery at Saint Vincent Hospital, foster children and kids with special needs, church fairs, and fundraisers. Eileen’s greatest joy in life was helping others and she continues this in her death. Eileen will be affectionately remembered and missed by her two daughters, Eileen Vostok and her husband, Gary of Holden and Sandra Fournier of Alexandria, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Patrick Fournier, Scott Fournier, Alan Fournier, Jamie Fournier, Tommy Fournier, Karyn Jones, Johanna Vostok and Jonathan Vostok; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Eileen is predeceased by her son, Paul Fournier of Charlton, and five siblings Mary, Elizabeth, Veronica, James, and Francis. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11 am on Friday, May 5, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St. Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eileen’s name to the Priest Retirement Fund RC Diocese of Worcester, 49 Elm St. Worcester, MA 01609.
