HOLDEN/WORCESTER – Janice E. (Hilbert) Williamson, 95, formerly of Worcester, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after an illness.
Her husband of 55 years, Harold W. Williamson died in 1991. She leaves her daughter, Nancy J. Abramson and her husband Douglas of Holden; a brother, David Hilbert of Upland, California; a sister, Charlotte Winters of Port Charlotte, Florida; four grandchildren, Thomas Lovejoy of Worcester, Jennifer Thibault and her husband James of Holden, Derek and Alex Abramson both of Salem, NH; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by a brother, Albert Hilbert and a sister, Julie Hall. Janice was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Cochrane) Hilbert and lived there most of her life in Worcester before moving to Holden to live with her daughter in 2006.
Janice graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and was a clerk in the juvenile division of the Worcester Police Department where she worked many years retiring in 1981. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Worcester. She was an avid Red Sox fan and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Wollin and his staff at Holden Nursing Home and Rehabilitation for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Janice will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25th at the funeral home with burial following in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02160, or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
