HOLDEN – Grace E. (Hatstat) Gove, 74, of Jefferson passed away on Christmas Day. Grace will be remembered fondly as a loving, loyal wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband, George A. Gove, predeceased her in 2008. They were married for 53 years. In 2004 they renewed their marriage vows to commemorate 50 years together. She leaves two sons, John F. Gove and his wife Tina and Donald E. Gove; two daughters, Barbara A. French and her husband Donnie, and Jennifer M. Erickson and her husband Brett with whom she lived after her husband's death; eight cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and dear friends
Grace was born in 1935, the daughter of the late Edna Goldthwaite Hatstat. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1953. She also became an LPN and worked at Holden Nursing Home and the former Rutland Heights Hospital. She was a member of the Rutland Congregational Church and was an avid reader, painter and crafter. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren immensely and was a great caretaker of those she loved. She will be remembered fondly and sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30th, in the funeral home with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543.
