WEST BOYLSTON – Barbara E. (Goodale) LaComfora, 87, formerly of Maple Street, died peacefully at Cape Regency Healthcare in Centerville early in the morning of Thursday, December 16, 2010, with her daughter Suzanne E. Staples (formerly of West Boylston) by her side.
She was blessed with her surviving brother, Charles Goodale and his wife Joan of Sterling who stayed with Barbara the night before and throughout the day of her comfortable passing. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Frank LaComfora of West Boylston, her first husband, Raymond M. Simon, Jr. of Worcester, her older brother, Aaron Goodale, Jr. of Pittsfield and sister, Martha (Goodale) McPherson of Washington.
Barbara was born in Worcester on September 4, 1923, daughter of Aaron and Velma G. (Smith) Goodale, and has lived in West Boylston most of her life. She attended West Boylston schools and Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She was a secretary to the Nursing Supervisor at the former Hahnemann Hospital followed by a long time employment and retirement from the West Boylston Insurance Agency, owned by her nephew, Aaron "Goody" Goodale.
To know Barbara was to love her smile, warmth, friendship, generosity and sense of humor. She was the best mother, sister, and friend anyone could ever have.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 19th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, 259 Willow Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675; or the Cape Regency-Radius Healthcare Center, 120 South Main Street, Centerville, MA 02632.
