PAXTON – Ruth E. (Franklin) Ryan, 87, of Marshall Street, died peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2010 in Essex Meadows Health Center, Essex, Connecticut.
Her husband, Francis W. Ryan died in 2003. She leaves three daughters, Lisa "Mary" Ryan Cole and her husband Rufus of Oakland, CA, Nora J. Belmore and her husband Timothy of Hopkinton and Barbara A. Ryan of Essex, CT; and two sons, James F. Ryan of Rutland and David W. Ryan and his wife Eva of Paxton.
Kind and gentle spirit she will be remembered and loved by five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Bryan, Tara, Zachary and Emma; a great-granddaughter, Anaiah; and many nephews and nieces. She was born and raised in Gardner, the daughter of William Edward and Jennie May (Woodbury) Franklin and lived many years in Paxton.
Mrs. Ryan graduated from Gardner High School and was a member of St. Columba Church of Paxton. An avid gardener, she and husband Francis spent many happy hours in their Paxton yard. Together they were active with the Senior Center and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program in Paxton.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ryan will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 17th, in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Essex Meadows Scholarship Fund, 30 Bokum Road, Essex, CT 06426. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
