S Dorothy E. (Forsberg) Nelson

HOLDEN – Dorothy E. (Forsberg) Nelson, 85, of the Lodge at Eddy Pond, Auburn, formerly of Holden died Friday, May 2, 2008 in UMass Memorial – University Campus, Worcester.

Her husband of 50 years, Sven Yngve Nelson, died in October of 2002. She leaves her son, John Y. Nelson and his wife Denise of Worcester; her daughter, Linda M. Flanagan and her husband John of Winchester; granddaughters, Megan E. Flanagan of New York City and Heather J. Nelson of Worcester; grandsons, John Y. Flanagan of Winchester and Jared J. Nelson of Worcester; two sisters, Jean Bianchi and her husband Paul of Northborough and Elaine Giles and her husband Robert of Michigan; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her sister, Pauline Mayberry and her brother, Warren Forsberg, predeceased her.

Dorothy was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Thorsten and Tilly (Rudman) Forsberg, and lived in Holden for 50 years. She was a comptometer operator at Norton Company for many years. Later she worked for the Fair and Grants department stores both in West Boylston. She was a member and former deaconess at the Greendale Peoples Church. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed socializing, birds, animals and Elvis Presley. She was known for her Swedish coffees and pastries.

The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in All Faith's Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
