RUTLAND – Edwin J. Wolfahrt, 70, of 115 Pleasantdale Road, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, in his home after an illness.
His wife of 22 years, S. Margareta (Carlsson) Wolfahrt, died in 1997. He leaves a son Rudi E. and his wife Cindy Wolfahrt of Punta Gorda, Florida; two daughters, Lisa J. Bean of Worcester and Laurie L. and her husband John Black of Land O Lakes, Florida; two step-sons, Tomas R. and his wife Shonna Larson of Hubbardston, and Hans R. Larson of Colorado; a sister, Margaret Schaeffer of Washington Township, New Jersey; five grandchildren; two nieces; and his companion, Nora G. Belfay of Rutland.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of Edwin J. and Margaretha (Knerner) Wolfahrt. Edwin worked for the Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America his entire life and former chairman of the Rutland Board of Health. He was a member of the Finnish American Club at Sovittja Park and enjoyed hiking, skiing, sailing and oil painting.
Edwin’s memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2004 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A calling hour will be from 11 a.m to 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Rutland.
