RUTLAND – Edwin “Ed” A. Buck, 75, of Ridge Road, passed away at home on Saturday, May 29, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves four sisters, Eleanore L. Morton and her husband Thomas J., Judith O. Johnson and her husband Harry C., Prudence O. Buck, all of Rutland and Dorothy K. LaRue of Pittsburgh, PA; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. A sister, Nancy J. Williams predeceased him. He was born in Willimantic, CT the son of George E. and Minnie M. (Oakes) Buck.
Mr. Buck graduated from North High School in Worcester. He worked for Reed Plastics in Holden for over 10 years before retiring. Ed was a janitor for many years at Wachusett Regional High School, the Naquag Elementary School, Holden Congregational Church and the Holden Police Dept. He also owned his own knife sharpening business in Rutland. Ed was a proud member of the North Worcester Fox and Coon Club in Jefferson and was a member of Worcester County Bee Association. He was an avid hunter and trapper and volunteered his time for the Rutland Meals on Wheels.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service for Edwin will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3rd, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
