HOLDEN – Edward J. Zukowski, 69, of Holden died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was born in Holden, the son of Edward and Jean M. (Geoffrion) Zukowski and lived in Holden his entire life.
Ed is survived by his long time companion, Cynthia Kenney of Holden; two sons, Edward R. Zukowski and his wife, Faye of Hubbardston, Keith M. Zukowski of Lancaster; a step son, David A. Oakes of Holden; a step daughter, Lisa M. Oakes of Auburn; two brothers, James G. Zukowski of Holden and David P. Zukowski of Westminster; three grandchildren, Dean, Tevin and Julia; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert A. Zukowski and a sister, Sharon Coolidge.
Ed graduated from Wachusett High School and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. Ed worked as a meat cutter at Goretti’s Market for many years. More recently he worked as a pyrotechnician for Atlas Display Fireworks until his retirement. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and a life member of the Nimrod League of Holden.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 18 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.
