CHARLTON - Edward F. Wissell, 86, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center. Born on August 17, 1938, in Worcester, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Mary (Yeager) Wissell.
Edward attended local schools and graduated from Saint Peter-Marian High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served from October 1956 to September 1960. It was during his time with the Airforce that he met the love of his life, Margaret J. Wesner. They married on August 4, 1962, in Worcester. Together they grew their family with the birth of their two sons, Matthew and Edward.
After his military service, Edward earned an associate degree from Worcester Junior College. He worked as an engineer for various companies, including Sprague Electric, Raytheon, Honeywell (Microswitch), Avco Systems, and Texas Instruments.
He enjoyed playing golf, visiting casinos, especially Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, and playing bingo and Left Right Center at the Overlook. A lifelong Packers fan.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward T. and Mary (Yeager) Wissell, and his sister, Carolyn M. Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Wissell of Charlton; his sons, Rev. Matthew Wissell and his wife Amy of West Bridgewater, and Edward S. Wissell and his wife Kimberly of Whitinsville; and his three stepbrothers, Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian of Bethlehem, PA, Donald Bocian of Holden, and Stephen Bocian of Rutland and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately, with interment following at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring.
