SPENCER – Edward R. Chalke of 7 Dufault Road, died at home on Friday, July 18, 2008, after an illness.
He leaves his long time companion of 25 years, Carol L. Sweeney; three sons, a daughter and a brother. A son and a daughter predeceased him. He was born in Yarmouth, son of Effin G.G. and Gladys (Walker) Chalke, and lived in Harvard, Ashburnham, and Holden before moving to Spencer in 1994. Edward worked for Crocker Technical Papers in Fitchburg for many years. He later worked in the logging and automotive industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, carpentry and was an avid sportsfan.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22nd, at Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wildlands Fund, c/o Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, 1 Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough, MA 01581; or the Massachusetts Audubon Society, 414 Massasoit Road, Worcester, MA 01604. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
