RUTLAND – Edward J. Messier, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 after an illness. He was born in Leicester, the son of Edward A. and Alma (Bergstrom) Messier and had lived most of his life in Rutland.
He leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Jeanine P. (Marois) Messier; three children, Andrew Messier of Rutland, Timothy Messier of Sherman, ME and Christine Hall of Boylston; five grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Messier.
Edward was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Cincinnati Milacron, previously Heald Machine, for over thirty years before retiring in 1993. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
