WORCESTER - Edward Magiera, 75, beloved husband of Jane (Adams) Magiera, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Dodge Park Rest Home.
Ed was born in Milford, Massachusetts and grew up in Uxbridge. He was a son of the late Edward and Anna (Laczynska) Magiera. Following graduation from Uxbridge High School he attended UMass Amherst, where he met his wife Jane. They were married in 1970 in the Newman Catholic Center at UMass. After a short period living in Northampton, they moved north to Surry, Maine. In Surry, they were able to build a home where they raised their two children and a barn that allowed for the many animals that came through their life – from cats to angora rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, goats and Ed’s beloved dog, Chlorie. Ed was a builder by trade and constructed the family home from the ground up. He was a kind and patient man and will be missed by many. He was always ready to greet a friend and future friend with a big smile that would create deep wrinkles by his eyes as they twinkled.
He loved to get outside - biking, walking the dog, running, and especially getting out onto the water with his rowing shell, a kayak, canoe or even his infamous saroca. He lived a full life with a bit of adventure and mischief, a significant amount of goodwill, and lots and lots of stories. There was the time he bought a 1952 dump truck from the Town of Granby and drove it all the way up to Maine or the time he lodged a small stone in his nose because the floor of his 60s Fiat had a few holes here and there, or how he wooed Jane by taking the hinges off her apartment doors. The latter part of his life was lived in Ellsworth in a house that he started fixing up in 1995, which will be left forever awaiting his final touches.
He was not a member of any official clubs, but created his own informal social club at Ellsworth’s Hannaford. Grocery shopping was an opportunity to see friends and he could easily catch someone in a 30 minute conversation if they had the time. We know he wishes he could have one last chat with everyone he knew.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jane of Worcester; his son, Andrew Magiera of Tahoe City, CA; his daughter, Amy Magiera and her husband, Dan Orzechowski of Worcester, and their son, Ethan Magiera; his brother, John Magiera of St. Helena, SC; and his sister, Patricia Magiera of Uxbridge.
Ed took great pride in being a regular blood donor and in lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Red Cross to support their blood services would be greatly appreciated. His family will be hosting a celebration of his life on June 12 from 3-6pm at the Ironbound Restaurant at 1513 US Route 1 in Hancock, Maine and request that folks who expect to be in attendance send a quick note to

so they can plan accordingly. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
