He enjoyed fishing and was known to travel with a fishing pole in his truck just in case he needed to make a quick stop at a local spot. A life-long deer hunter, each fall he and his friends looked forward their annual trip to his cabin in Northern Maine. A keen bird hunter, Ed raised Labrador Retrievers for many years.

Ed met his beloved wife, Patricia Donnelly, in Worcester in 1965. They married soon after and chose to raise their family in Sterling. Ed loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed vacationing at the homes he built in East Orleans, MA and Parkman, ME, and restoring an antique farm in Royalston, MA.
