RUTLAND – Edward L. Bracebridge, 72, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Holden, the son of Frank S. and Charlotte H. (Snow) Bracebridge.
He leaves his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon L. (Krikorian) Bracebridge; his son, Rev. Shawn E. Bracebridge and his companion, John Dunham of Albany, NY; his daughter, Shelley L. Glockner and her husband, Al of Rutland; two grandchildren, Malik and Cameron; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Charles and John Bracebridge.
Edward graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and was a culinary arts teacher for twenty-nine years at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School before retiring in 2004. Ed was active at the First Congregational Church of Rutland and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge in Rutland, the Rutland Historical Society, the Rutland Fire Brigade and was a former deputy chief of the Rutland Fire Dept. He was a member of the Greater Gardner Community Choir and was a board member for the Rural Cemetery in Rutland. Edward was well known and very active in town politics. He enjoyed singing, gardening, cooking, fly fishing and wintering in Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A memorial service for Edward will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland. A private committal service will be held at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, 264 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
