WEST BOYLSTON – Edward A. Amsden, 84, formerly of West Boylston, died Saturday, July 17, in Summerfield, Florida
His wife, Eleanor L. (Houlihan) Amsden died in 1991. She leaves a son, James E. Amsden of Worcester; three daughters, Margaret C. Wells of Auburn, Barbara J. Landry of Ocala, FL and Nancy L. Caron of Lunnenburg; a sister, Carol Youngstrom of Holden; 7 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Mr. Amsden worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester for 26 years retiring in 1992. He previously worked for John Bath Co. in Worcester for 20 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars all in West Boylston and Disabled American Veterans. He was an amateur radio enthusiast and was a member of the Central Massachusetts Amateur Radio Club and Silver Springs Amateur Radio Club in Florida. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the European Theater.
The funeral for Mr. Amsden will be held Friday, July 23, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., (Rte. 140) West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in the funeral home.
