RUTLAND – Edna F. Bigelow, 88, of Intervale Road, died on Monday, June 23, 2008 in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a brief illness. She was born in Rutland, the daughter of Lewis R. and Elsie H. (Peabody) Bigelow and lived in Rutland her entire life.
Edna is survived by many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters, Raymond, Clarence, Ernest, Charles, Everett, Milton, Herbert, Marion and Myrtle Bigelow, and Viola Fairbanks.
Edna graduated from Rutland High School and The Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She was an Executive Secretary for John Bath Company in Worcester for many years. She was a member of the Persis Putnam Order of the Eastern Star in Rutland, the Rutland Grange, the Rutland Historical Society, and the Rutland Republican Women's Club. She attended services at the First Congregational Church of Rutland and loved spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 26th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery (Rte. 122A), Rutland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Massachusetts Chapter, 101A First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451, or the Rutland Historical Society, P.O. Box 69, Rutland, MA 01543.
