PRINCETON – Edmund V.L. Olson, Jr., 67, of 266 Worcester Road, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 1, 2006.
He leaves his wife of 15 years, Joyce P. (Cook) Olson; three daughters, Sharon B. Dunn of Princeton, Susan R. Hudson of Holden and Sandi J. Calcia and her husband John of Princeton; his step-children, Glenn A. Mardirosian and his wife Christine of Oakham and Sandra E. Nason and her husband Henry of Hubbardston; a sister, Mary “Mickey” Mellor and her husband Bud of Arizona; 15 grandchildren, Steven, Nathan, Eric, Joe, Rebecca, Daniel, Joshua, Derek, Timothy, Mikayla, Nicholas, Patrick, Emelia, Kyle and Nicholas; nephews and nieces; and his former wife, Janet D. (Hogberg) Olson of Holden. A brother, Paul Olson, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Holden, son of Edmund V.L. and Natalie (Praskiewicz) Olson, Sr., and was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School. He was with the Air National Guard stationed in Germany during in the 1960’s.
Mr. Olson worked at Norton Company in Worcester for over 30 years, retiring as supervisor in 1991. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden. He belonged to several steam engine associations. He enjoyed camping and spending winters in Bradenton Beach, Florida. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The funeral service for Mr. Olson will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princeton Firefighters Association, Ambulance Fund, P.O.
