Edie was born on June 2, 1925 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Nettie Mary (Zalesky) of Bridgeport, CT and Michael Anthony Krauskas of Lithuania. An outstanding student, Edith was valedictorian of her high school class. Her excellent work ethic lead to several jobs including legal secretary, administrative assistance at S.E.I.U. For many years she took great pleasure in her meticulous handwork, hooking many rugs, very large wall hangings, and numerous pictures for her home and family members. Her great talent in blending colors earned her wool hooked work first prize in any competition entered. An avid knitter with great attention to detail, she made dozens of sweaters with complicated patterns and very small stitches. Her needlepoint encompassed scenes she loved and visited.
Edith was a past member of the Holden Red Hat Society, the Holden and Worcester Senior Centers, and St. George’s Church in Worcester. She loved trips to the Cape and Sandwich friends, family visits, and lunch with her lady friends. Strong willed and fiercely independent, she lived life on her terms.
