Edith W. (Oslebo) Swenson

January 24, 1919 — January 29, 2013

WEST BOYLSTON HOLDEN – Edith W. (Oslebo) Swenson, 94, of Maple St., died peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester. Edith was born in Worcester on January 24, 1919, the daughter of Ola and Thora (Engh) Oslebo and lived most of her life in Holden before moving to West Boylston in 2011.



Her loving husband of 70 years, Walter Swenson, died in 2009. Edith is survived by her adoring and devoted daughter, Winifred E. Hanson of West Boylston; her brother, Ronald Oslebo and his wife Marjorie of Holden; a sister-in-law, Marlene Oslebo of Rutland; twin granddaughters, Holly and Heidi; and four great-grandchildren, Spencer, Griffin, Autumn and Thea. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ella Santimaw and Shirley Lind and her brother, Richard Oslebo.



Edith graduated from Worcester Girl’s Trade High School. She worked in the cafeteria at the Paul Revere Insurance Company in Worcester and at Wachusett Regional High School. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden, the Nordic Lodge 611 in Worcester and the Paul Revere Alpha Club. Edith loved playing shuffle board while on vacation in Florida. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private in the spring at Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden, MA 01520 or checks may be made payable to “Boston Children’s Hospital” and mailed to Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr. Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
