Edith J. (Eklund) Hersey

STERLING - Edith J. (Eklund) Hersey, 80, of Sterling, died suddenly at home on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
Her husband of 41 years, Ralph B. Hersey, Jr. died in 1989. She leaves two sons, Richard R. Hersey of Berkley and Mark A. Hersey of North Dartmouth; a daughter, Diane L. Hersey of Sterling; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was born in Boston, the daughter of Gustav A. and Elna (Bjorkman) Eklund, lived 40 years in Norwood before moving to Sterling 18 years ago. She summered in Dennis.
She was a member of the Church of Good Shepherd, Sterling Senior Center and a volunteer at the Sterling Library for 10 years. She was an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins fan and enjoyed reading and writing poems.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service for Mrs. Hersey at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 8, in the Church of Good Shepherd, 209 Union Street, Clinton. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P. O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
