HOLDEN - Edith V. (Johnson) Cook, 101, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living in Worcester. Her beloved husband, Earl Cook passed away in 1989. A daughter of Claus and Elin (Polin) Johnson, she was born in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School.
A longtime Holden resident since 1939, Edith was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over fifty years. Together with her husband, she owned and operated Chaffin’s Specialty Shop for many years.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her grandchildren, Sandra Nason and her husband, Henry of Hubbardston and Glenn Mardirosian and his wife, Christine of Oakham; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Edith is predeceased by her daughter, Joyce Olson who passed away on September 3rd; and by her three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service celebrating and honoring Edith’s life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 1, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Scar Hill Road, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden.
