HOLDEN – Ronald E. Desautels, 82, of Causeway Street, Jefferson, a lifelong resident of Holden, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 10, 2010.
His wife of 49 years, Honora Rose V. (Steckel) Desautels, passed away in 2002. He is survived by a son, Ronald E. Desautels and his wife Susan of Summerville, SC; a daughter, Susan Kelley and her husband Robert of Princeton; a brother, Alphonse Desautels, Jr. of North Oxford; 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Joshua, Jennifer, Sarah, Robert and Daniel; and nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Edmund and Raymond Desautels, predeceased him.
Mr. Desautels was born in Worcester, a son of Alphonse and Clementine (Lajeunesse) Desautels, Sr., and lived many years in Holden. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS LSM. He worked for Nissen Baking Company in Worcester for over 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson and the Teamsters Union, Local 170. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and vacationing on the cape with his family.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 13th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 14th at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte.56), Paxton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Desautels memory may be made to Why Me?
